Eat Healthy under stress

Filed under: Information — remadd @ 6:53 am

One of the times I find it hardest to adhere to an eating sensibly program is when I am having a bad day or am just utterly stressed. Unfortunately, my first thought is to have some really good comfort food. I like to think of really rich things to eat that are terrible for my fat loss program and worse for my over all well being. When the body is stressed out, it actually wants sensible foods more at that time than any other. Filling it up with all of the junk I desire when i’m having a bad day is worse because I’m not giving myself what I require to properly deal with the strain.

Here are some ways I try and avoid stress eating. I attempt to carry good healthy snacks with me all the time. These are usually things like trail mix or granola bars that have a tiny fat in them that might satisfy that urge to eat a giant chocolate bar when i’m getting stressed. They’re really better for my body than the huge chocolate bar and will give me the nutrients I have to cope with my busy lifestyle. Peanut butter is a great thing to have on hand if you can. I keep some in my briefcase ( strange, I know, but it works for me ) and I could have a spoonful if i’m ever going to be late for a meal or if I just need a good gratifying break. It’s surprising that it can really curb hunger pains and also satisfies those urges I am getting when I am stressed out.

I attempt to plan all my meals ahead. This helps me to stick to what I’ve already decided when the going gets tough. Sure, sometimes I’ve tossed my lunch and went out for a cheeseburger, but it doesn’t happen that regularly if I have already got a clever plan. I really try to add in mouth-watering things to all my meals. If i’m sure to get sufficient healthy fats, it helps me to stop craving them when the levels of stress increase.

I also like to keep stuff like jell-o around. It truly have any calories, but satisfies my sweet tooth if I am getting a craving. Adding some whipping cream is also ok, since the whipped cream is still pretty lowcal.

These are all things that help me avoid stress eating. You will have to try them and work out what works best for you. Keeping good decisions around will help you to be successful with your weight reduction goals and feel happier about yourself. They’ll also help you manage your stress better and keep you going when you most need to.
